Our theme for the 36th Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will be "The Enchanted Terrier Castle"! Our float will be decorated with a magical castle theme, complete with castle walls, a flagstone arch, ivy vines, and leprechauns!
The Parade will step off promptly at 10 am from the formation area at Northside Middle School, and proceed north on Granby Street to Ocean View. The float must be in position and ready to go by 9 am. CTC members and their dogs should be in position no later than 9:30 a.m. We are in Section Two, position 239. Please make a note of it. Section Two will form up on Westmont Avenue. You can reach Westmont Avenue from Tidewater Drive because Granby Street will be closed to thru traffic; however, vehicles not participating in the parade will not be allowed on Westmont, so you must park elsewhere. When you arrive at the parade grounds, Parade Marshalls (the people in the green jackets) will guide you to our float location. You can check www.norfolkparade.com/route.htm for a map of directions and parking options.
Please come dressed in black pants and any kind of green top (turtleneck, sweat shirt, button down shirt, sweater, etc.). This gives our group a more uniform look. You may dress your dogs in anything with a Saint Patrick’s Day or ancient Irish castle theme, and please feel free to be creative! In addition, the CTC will provide members and their dogs with shamrock necklaces to wear. These will be provided on the day of the parade. If you don’t have anything for your dog to wear, we will also have decorative green scarves for them at the parade.
As always, the parade sponsors ask that we keep our pups leashed at all times, and that we bring provisions to clean up after them. Also, it’s a good idea to bring a source of water for your dog, as it is a long parade. If you or your dog are unable to walk, there Will be plenty of room and comfortable seating on the float.
Let’s make this Saint Patrick’s Day Parade the best ever! Hope to see you all there!
